Annotation
This article drafts the general picture of the topic of the reuse of public sector information. It draws the reader’s attention to the mail legal notions for “public sector information”, “re-use”, “open data” and “open government”. It also follows the development of the concept for open data from the legal point of view and the new technical means, that facilitate the transition to open data in practice, introduced in Directive 2013/37/EU. The article underlines the importance of the open data for the contemporary democracy and prepares the reader for a deeper look into the essential changes in the field of re-use of public sector information.
